Learn Tech Skills You Need to Make It in This Economy

In the old days — like the early 1990s and prior — getting your message out was back-breaking, ponderous, expensive work. You needed lots of cash for advertising in print, on billboards, and on the airwaves. Fast forward to today, where the combined technology punch of the Internet and cheap devices has changed all that.

Today, it’s relatively simple and highly affordable to get your message out, provided you know how to use the tools — or you can hire someone that does know how to use them. But if you’ve been stuck behind the technology curve because it seems like it’s just advancing too fast, don’t worry: In partnership with the We Are Black Women Blog Network, I’ll be co-presenting at the WABW Tech Camp on May 21, 2011, in Philadelphia. There, attendees will get hands-on training and experience with building blogs and becoming adept at using digital media. The reason — everyone absolutely needs these skills to be competitive in the 21st century economy.

Whether you’re an individual who wants to stay employable, or a business that wants to stay viable, these online and offline tech skills that we’ll be teaching are essential. For the best jobs, employers want people who can communicate the value they bring. Customers want to patronize firms that solve their problems by providing information — much of it for free or at low cost. Blogging, posting multimedia and being active on social media are the ways you do these things
